About Us
Welcome to Pen House USA! We have been sourcing and retrofitting antique and vintage boxes and chests for your pens for approximately 20 years.
Our founder and CEO has been collecting and restoring antique pens for 52 years. Their vast knowledge of this niche hobby has been cultivated over a lifetime of collecting. This lifetime of collecting has also cultivated an extensive collection. Thus came the ever growing need for storage. While sourcing pens at various estate sales, antique dealers, etc., they often encountered beautiful antique boxes, in various states of neglect. They found themself attracted to the possibility of converting one of these chests for their own use. What better to store antique treasures in than antique boxes? After completing their first box, they decided that this was something they could do for the community.
Our Specialization
We focus mostly on Japanese maki-e boxes and wooden western chests from across history. The goal of our business is to revitalize these boxes for our customers specific purposes, while keeping them as authentic and intact as possible. Repairs are only done when sorely needed and we know they can be done well.
Location
We are located on the east coast of the U.S. and you can typically find us at the Washington DC pen show, the Baltimore pen show, and the New York pen show. Otherwise we are online only. Our website will be updated if we decide to go to additional pen shows.
